probably because they caved under the pressure of jews making their way up through south eastern europe, killing off germans everywhere they went. to try and stop all that trouble, the slavic areas, they turned their backs on the plight of germans all across russia, europe, and other areas nearby. the jews were heavily armed and threatened anyone who interfered with their mission; going into every town and killing germans. germans were the most successful group across all levels of society from the atlantic to the pacific after the fall of western rome. to be able to take over europe and russia, germans had to be removed, thus, the constant propaganda against germans especially starting in the eighteen hundreds.
