It sure is suspicious that he keeps going on about how good he was for nogs as it is pretty obvious that his base does not care about it. For a guy who was so good at telling the base what they want to hear, there has to be some reason that he's telling them something that they don't care about.
Indeed, he is messaging loud and clear. Once you start to read messaging the way you read road signs, you cannot miss it.
