People are paying with their life not only for freedom of speech but for freedom of academia

"“Writing about Polish-Jewish relations is a risky activity. Especially for a Pole who believes that these relations should be presented based on the truth. It is then easy - paradoxically - to face accusations of extreme nationalism, xenophobia and "on-call" anti-Semitism. The consequences are usually sad: a social boycott (everyone has the friends they deserve), a racial and publishing "gag", and ultimately a professional death. - Not only professional, but actual death befell the historian from Opole."
