I think he'd find it agreeable that a man should build his own legacy, not covet those of the dead whose nations and people are lost to history and the dust. We aren't Spartans, but there's much one could learn from what survives of their history. What lessons you take away from them are yours, but to repeat their mistakes would be to your own folly.
Sparta, like all great nations, was ultimately destroyed from within. Primarily at the hands of their own women whose selfishness was enabled by their nations Oligarchs and emboldened by sons left weak from generations of fatherlessness forced upon them from engaging the generations of men in pointless wars. Never forget that.
