Whites always get taken in by this phenomenon because whites are peculiar in that they don't place loyalty to race above all else as a general rule. It's hard to imagine a completely foreign thought process, so whites just assume everyone is this way. Then they're taken aback when people they thought were their friends and neighbors turn on them.
