They sought out the pagan origins of the Hebrew (Aryan/Scythian) people which ultimately created Christianity. They were looking for the roots of the Aryan/Scythian people. By all reports they found it in the middle east and elsewhere, and documented it. Where the (((allies))) then stole all the collected artifacts and burned several hundred thousand pages of accrued research. This research is why the movie Indiana Jones is set in the Middle East. Now no one questions what they sought. But note, even that movie dances around Christianity and God. The German's issue with the west wasn't Christianity.
