For them, all this life was just shit like welcome to purgatory, and even making a kid was bordering on sin for them, because it was a life of pain and suffering all the way that you brought an innocent into. The catholic church exterminated them, at least they tried, precisely because their faith and abnegation, forced admiration among christians back then, but most importantly, their interpretation of scriptures was going against the catholic church narrative.
