He was stated that negroes could be educated just like white people but he was convinced they are incapable moral behavior and thinking.
Although he might occasionally have a contractor flogged and tied for the night, he takes pride at treating his men well. He notes how other exploration leaders were murdered by his contractors for mistreating them.
Modern TV of course exhibits Africans as members of British royal families or part of Viking raiding parties.
Older generations were taught Africans were brave warrior types.

Spekes wrote that the majority of Africans were terrified of being captured by African slave traders so they built their homes in places that it was easy to run off and hide in the bushes whenever they sensed danger.
