Jesse Goes to Berlin
Jesse Owens gets to Germany with no running shoes for the '36 Olympics. Because great America was too cheap to supply Jesse some running shoes. He makes friends with a Luz Long, Germany's top running star who gives Jesse a brand new pair of Adidas running shoes Luz also noticed that Jesse kept coming up short in the long jump and he gave Jesse the tip to not hesitate even if it means jumping 12" before the bar so you can run full steam and launch. He tried it and he set the record and took the gold "home" to America "Several other misconceptions about the 1936 Olympics are prevalent. Not only was Owens not rebuffed by Hitler, Owens wasn't shunned by the German audience at the Berlin stadium either. Baker reports that Owens so captured the imagination of the crowd it gave him several ear-shattering ovations. Owens had been prepared for a hostile reception; a coach had warned him in advance not to be upset by anything that might happen in the stands."Ignore the insults," Owens was told, "and you'll be alright." Later Owens recalled that he had gotten the greatest ovations of his career at Berlin." when Hitler showed up, he waved and did shake Hitler’s hand and Jesse stated that "it was a most beautiful moment" Jesse carried around a picture of him shaking hands with Hitler. All contrary to popular belief that Hitler stormed out of the stadium because a "black man" won, "It wasn't Hitler who snubbed me, it was FDR who didn't invite me to the White House. He didn't even send me a telegram" He hated the fact that they kept reporting that Hitler "snubbed" him. Thats because FDR was a communist criminal who starved 12 million Americans to death, over a ten year period during the great depression. But I digress . . . Jesse Owens was treated like royalty in Berlin, with first class service in restaurants. they loved the guy. In America at the jew's Waldorf Astoria hotel he had to take the freight elevator because he wasn't allowed on the "whites only" elevator. In Germany they treated him like a King. In KKK, Jim Crow lynching America they treated Jesse like a "nigger". Even the black POWs said they were treated far better in the camps, with no segregation with other prisoners, than at home. They lived to tell their tale. They weren't; "holocausted" either. Additionally, the founder of Adidas, Adolf Dassler (whose nickname was Adi), was a Nationalist . He produced shoes for the Wehrmacht during the war, as well as providing American and Nationalist athletes with his footwear during the Berlin Olympics. This created national acclaim when Jesse Owens won the sprinting event at the Berlin Olympics wearing Adolf Dassler’s shoes. Adidas is now a multinational company, supplying athletes all over the world with a supply of footwear and sports accessories. Luz Long, Jesses life long friend died during the war in 1945. Jesse was reduced to racing against horses.
