Simply put, they want totalitarian power for themselves, they don't want people who hate what them or what they do to have authority or advantage over them. I'm sure he was aware that he was helping to solidify conditioning, so that in the case of there being a resistance or backlash to their hegemony, the masses will mostly react as they have been pre-programmed to.
