I guess I can see that. For me, I feel that I understand completely why they would do that. To me, it just sounds fun and exciting to build something beautiful and temporary like that and then invite my friends and family to see it before it gets too unsafe and needs to be torn down. If I had the time and the money I would have loved to make it a permanent version, but the cost for real romanesque construction would have been cost prohibitive. A good comparison would be how the Chinese imitate western cities and skyscrapers with inferior techniques and building quality. This leads to unsafe buildings, but unlike people with a conscience, they just all their buildings to kill people until they crumble completely.
