This is footage from La Sierra in Carmichael, CA.

"The La Sierra System had been developed by WWII-veteran Stan LeProtti, who was inspired by the classical, “whole man” approach to fitness that had been championed by the ancient Greeks. LeProtti’s program sought to improve the strength, agility, balance, flexibility, power, and endurance — as well as the leadership qualities — of all the males in the student body, not just those relatively few boys who participated in organized athletics."

I caught the tail end of this era and witnessed the decline from aspiring Demi-gods to Cheeto Dust Douchebaggery. My elementary school PE program in the 70s was more intense and physically well rounded than my highschool years as a multi sport athlete. Those lessons learned in early youth have stayed with and served me well.
