That's a target-rich environment.
I'll tell this story again:
Years ago I was visiting a friend in El Centro. We were bored, and out of the blue he says "Hey, you want to go down to the border and shoot spics as they run across?"
At the time I was young and pretty wet behind the ears. I said "What? People do that? Have you ever done that?"
My friend replies "Yeah people do it all the time. I haven't ever done it, but my step-Dad has."
Just then his step-father walked in to the room, and I asked him about it. His step-father initially froze at the question, but then relaxed a bit. He said "Yeah, it's a pretty well-known thing down here and it happens all the time. It's one of the reasons the coyotes get so much money for getting people across. There's a lot more dangers for them than just heat and snakes. And as for me, let's just say I've been very close to the action a number of times, but I really shouldn't say more. You know, instead of going south, why don't you guys head up near the Chocolate Mountains and shoot stuff up there?"
It was a good suggestion, and so we went north to the Chocolate Mountains (and almost got shot up by a military attack helicopter - but that's another story for another time).
This was back in 1990. I've stayed in touch with that friend over the years and occasionally we chat about the whole trip and what his step-father said. That sort of thing never stopped and, if anything, has been increasing in frequency. It's a big BIG desert down there, and some rifles can reach a long LONG way very accurately.
So the question remains: Where will these 700k illegals (I hesitate to call them 'people') be crossing the border? At a secure checkpoint where they'll be protected by our current political regime (paid for with our citizen money)? Or will they storm across at out-of-the-way locations where the desert is vast and the roads are few?
