I know a person who outright lied to his replacement and got lucky and found something else in a few weeks. This was 10+ years ago. He got a call a few months later asking for help and he said $1000 an hour, 50% up front or get fucked. Never heard from them again. Be smart about it. Don't be racist (yet) and just string the guy along.
