As long as china isn't overwhelmingly more powerful than the US and its allies or really forced to move in, it's going to wait it out, the west clearly hasn't time on its side, it's in a steep decline, it just keeps pilling on problems internally and externally and it's unlikely to change anytime soon, NATO might very well become a thing of the past in the not so distant future, according to mearsheimer, for instance...
