Lower IQ people tend to have higher time preference and less ability to delay gratification. They will go for the extra slice of cake because it feels good now, and not think about or not care about the long term consequences. This is why obesity rates are stratified by race, with blacks having the highest rates, hispanics next, whites and then east asians least. The exact same tendency is seen with sexual promiscuity and violent crime.
Correlation is not causation.
I think there are several different reasons why someone can be obese or overweight. Only one of those is IQ. I think there are other reasons in blacks that cause them to gain weight. A lot of people with mental illness are overweight too. I imagine a lot of people with mood disorders use it to regulate their emotions.
I know a lot of people on here are going to say will power or IQ. Alot of obesity is going to be down to genes, and not necessarily the IQ ones. I have met a lot of very smart fat people.

I think IQ has something to do with this. But whites with low IQ are less violet than blacks. There is still a massive disparity when you adjust for IQ. Some of this may yet again be a function of the melanocortin system, which controls skin color, libido, violence, and eating behaviors. Basically darker pigmented animals of all kinds of species are shown to be more aggressive.
Some other studies have shown that polygamous societies are far more violent than monogamous ones. Reproductively successful polygamous males tend to be more violent and more sexually aggresive individuals who can fight off the competion and hoard all the females. Monogamists put more energy into taking care of a single mate and a smaller number of children and less time fighting other males. Monogamists also tend to compete with their brains and their “nice guy” traits. There is more male cooperation and more economic productiveness.
All these are factors for why blacks (and muzzies) are so violent and rapey.
All very true. There's a lot of factors in play for most of biology, so I wouldn't narrow it down to one thing. IQ, height, weight, etc. all are determined by an interaction of many genes, as well as many environmental factors. But I wanted to point why IQ and weight are linked on average, despite exceptions to the trend. Without a doubt, some people have greater genetic propensity to put on weight while eating a modern diet, which today is loaded with sugar or HFCS, preservatives, dyes, etc. as well as lacking nutrients. Also, everyone is sitting much more than we used to, but office work tends to be for the right end of the IQ been curve. Our ability to tolerate these modern poisons is not equally weighted, nor is our exposure to it. But it's still more likely that someone smarter is likely to figure out these dangers and find a solution, all else being equal.
As for the rest, R/K reproductive strategies explain a lot. It's linked to IQ, but not perfectly. Someone can be smart but still follow the R strategy, like Genghis Khan. But speaking in broad strokes, races seem to have their own personality that's outside of IQ. Whites are very trusting, cooperative, individualistic but also ideologically driven ("do the right thing" even if it's detrimental). Asians are less trusting, practical, family oriented, non-ideological, and often very technically skilled. According to modern tests the asians have a slight IQ lead, but the majority of scientific and industrial advancements can be attributed to whites. Asia was much richer and more populous than Europe for much of it's history, so something biologically rooted is likely at play that lead to such different outcomes.
