Not the Greek translation. Greek manuscripts. The New Testament was written in Ancient Greek, and we have several copies of the original language used. Makes a massive difference. Say a guy travels to France for work and meets a gorgeous Parisian girl. They have a spark and try to communicate. She writes him a letter in French that he can’t read. At first, he might want to get somebody to translate it for him, but ultimately, he will want to be able to read them himself, understanding her word choices, her idioms, and the rest. He wouldn’t want to let a third party come between himself and his love. He wouldn’t want another person explaining what was meant. He studies French like a man possessed, delving into the language to understand her better. The same is true for God’s letter to the Christian. If we have manuscripts in Ancient Greek, why would we not want to read it in that context? He loves us more than the French beauty loved the businessman in my example.
