Was it more or less feasible to spend time chipping rocks during that time period?
I imagine rock chipping being a common hobby or pass time when technology was primitive by today's. However, only the wealthy/noble had the time to spare. The peasants only had time to farm.

Peasants didn’t have the money nor education to get wealthier. These statues were mostly ordered to professional sculptors by wealthy people.
