You know, after writing that... I remembered one. In my mid 20s. A female to male. I think it had surgery too, what ever kind of surgery they did in the early nineties anyway. It had some kind of a weak "beard" and had a men's haircut, and it wore men's clothing, that never fit a female body type, at all. I worked for a big company and we were doing one of those scam march of dimes or something (I used to believe it that shit). I don't know who I knew, that knew the tranny, but it was a pleasant "person" as I recall. "They" weren't militant yet, back then. LOL I'm pretty sure, that's the only one I've ever met.
