More anecdotes that companies are not interested in making money by pleasing consumers.

Something else is going on. I believe there's some deal behind the scenes. At this point, it's pretty obvious that fortune 500 companies no longer need to make money, at least from consumers. Sure, management isn't so smart, but they're smart enough to understand that alienating consumers isn't a sustainable business model. Their actions speak volumes. Time and time again, they do things that go against everything I ever learned about running a business. The implication is clear: the business model has shifted to something other than providing services and products people want.

Yes. They're doing the woke crap to maintain good credit lines from lenders, but eventually the credit will need to be repaid and if there aren't any customers, there is no profit.

It would appear to me that this is both a case of trying to do the thing that's hot in business and the short-sightedness of a board that gets their bonus and leaves the mess for the next sucker.
