Gnome has had a redshift feature built in for years now. I bet most other desktop environment do too.

I learned about Caffeine when I joined a company that forced us to use locked‐down Macbooks. It was one of those companies with an out of control IT / security department. They did stupid things like preventing the browser we had to use for accessing company stuff from re‐opening your tabs on startup (locked setting). They also made the screen lock after something short like 10 minutes and we could not change that either. Half the company worked around it with Caffeine, which probably made us less secure.
