My issue with Debian is "stable" for them means 5-10 year old packages. I don't mind older packages in many cases, but thats kinda nuts. There are other ways around this like Flatpak, but they act funny in many cases. Debian is great, but I don't think it's very good as a desktop everyday driver.

I don't disagree. I just have a real soft spot for Debian because it's the distro that I used when I really started using Linux. I remember using a super basic install of Debian from a cdr and getting everything I needed with net-install In my laziness I've reverted to Mint.

Laziness isn't wanting a distro that just fucking works. That's common sense. I went back to Mint also recently because of Nvidia driver issues
