I wake up on a small dirt raod running through open fields. The road is lined with a hedge berm and there are power lines over head. Trees break up the fields and the land is not totally flat. I can see houses, maybe farms in both directions. Forward leads slightly up hill and I think there is another road in the distance. Behind slopes down hill and I see a lake in the distance. I’m thinking the UK or France because of the hedge berms. I head toward the lake. Water typically has more civilization near it. The road dead ends quick. By The lake is a farm. I think this road is actually their driveway. I turn around. The driveway in the other direction does meet up with a a road, still dirt. There is a sign saying I just came from a Bed and Breakfast. Sign is in English There is also a sign saying >> Norman Fortifications 1169 So I’m in France 1000km from Normandy? The sign is also in another language… >> Daingnithe Normanancha 1169. Is that French? Makes no sense. 1169 puts me all the way on the other side of the country… maybe its 1169m? I hope so because if that is the case I am sure I can find an airport in Paris at the least and is only about 200km from here. I head toward the Norman Fortifications Found some ruins by the road real quick… hope these are not the Norman Fortifications. I keep going. I pass lots of houses and farms and come to a 4-way intersection. There is a sign for some horse stables in English. I don’t think I am in France… But Normandy is weird… The road is clearly bigger to the right. I go that way. Get to a bigger road. Some useful signs. This bigger road is R733 To the right: Loch Garman, Wexford 25km, Wellington Brige 3 km To the left Authurstown 12km. I think I am in Scotland? Would explain the Norman Fort. I pick right because seeing a Loch might be nice. Find a map with tourist location. Big bonus. It is blurry but I see R733 going from Authurstown to Wellington Brige. I think I am in south east Scotland. I think I want to head south and west. Looks like I am heading North-east. Fuck. I want to turn around and head to Authurstown. I get stuck behind a big tractor forever. The tractor finally turn off. Such a better view. So I have seen enough signs to know that the other language is Galic. I think I may be in Ireland, not Scotland. So I have no idea where I am going. In Authurstown I hit the coast as expected. I decide to cross the causway at Ballyhack. Fuck… Ballyhack is a ferry not a bridge… Streetview does not allow me to cross. So now I am just wandering. Now that I think I am in Ireland and I know I am on the southern coast… I head north. I find R733 and follow it north. I eventually come to a bigger road. N25. I find a sign for Waterford which I have actually heard of… I hope that means it is a bigger town/city. After a long time I see signs for Dublin and Limerick. I think both have airports. But I also know that Dublin is on the east coast and Limerick is on the west coast. Da fuc? The next sign point this way for Dublin and Limerick AND Waterford. How is that possible? On in the south one in the west, one in the east… oh well. It was a huge fucking roundabout. Guess that explains it. Found a sign with an airplane symbol… I definitely am heading to Watertown. Need to stay on R710 Signs say I need to get on R675… but then in a bit one indicating I should stay on R710… We will see. Had to stay on R710… now a sign that actually says “Airport” not just the little plane symbol. Taking R708 So Pissed. Streetview abruptly ends in the middle of R708 and does not let me continue. I KNOW there is an airport in just a few km. Maybe I can detour. Back to R710 and one more exit up. Took the next road… hoping I can circle around. Came to a decent sized road going in the right general direction… Praying. Another intersection… If Turn right again I should have gone in a big circle. Fuck… streetview does not let me turn right… I’ll go strait and try the next one. Does not lst me take the next right either. The road are getting smaller. I may have fucked up. Dirt road… but my sens of direction says I am heading to the airport. Paved road again. I feel lost. Finally lets me turn right. No Idea where I am. No signs. Sign for R708 and the Airport! Looks like a circled around to far but I am back on track. Success!
