My guess is that he wasn't part of faggit, but bought cheap fake upvotes from indian/pakistani companies. draining more traffic that faggit liked. Then got paid to submit specific links (astroturfing).

Yes, exactly. Parasites. Making money off of other people's websites. Not that reddit doesn't deserve hell, but keeping an eye on astroturfers is important.
