This is worse than a pod. I'm actually all for pods, so long as you aren't forced to live in one.
If you insist in living in the big city, you deserve to have to pay for the privilege.
You must be thinking of living in a converted shipping container, what living in a pod refers to is which is worse than OP's pic.
I know what a pod is. I understand if you don't want to live in one. I also don't want them banned. Because if you're fucked it's a cheap place to live while you get yourself back together. Or maybe you're fine if you only want a spot to crash and can live your life outside a real home. Or if you work in the city, sleep there four nights a week and head to your rural house for the weekend.
In this case that room is mostly wasted space, there's barely room to put your shit and it costs almost a grand a month. If pods were allowed (and not regulated to death) in NYC they might cost a tenth that. That'd give you over $800 per month additional to play with.
