History: Adams was removed/stifled in his corporate career in the 1980s due to affirmative action and California quota thinkers calling him too white and too male to advance.

He always had a neutral public position on the idea of quotas and affirmative action like a typical moderate boomer, despite hinting at his frustration over its personal impact on his life.

It’s also easy to surmise that Adams might not have started the Dilbert comic had he been allowed to advance. His personality is in that narrow margin of high level executives who can say anything and get away with it because they sell it with charisma and conviction.
