Okay, but here's my problem with them calling this parent insane. They are heavily into censorship. They constantly want to censor people. So, if a parent does it that is wrong? That's worse than a reddit moderator telling you what you can, and cannot see? It's double standards here. They want to do the censorship, but God forbid that a parent try it to protect their children.

Furthermore, a child does not have rights to unlimited access to TV, and the internet. They didn't have this stuff decades ago, you know? And they turned out okay.

And why do you think so many kids these days are so messed up? They are consuming all these crazy ideas -- people telling them to cut off their dicks, and take it in the ass. Ridiculous.

Do you think the Amish are overprotective? They sure don't have TV, and the internet. I don't see anyone calling them insane. 16 year olds don't need the internet, and they don't need TV. Oh, God, what do they lose without TV? Oh, they can't watch the drag show? C'mon.

All great points.

At some point, the parent will realize they cannot helicopter parent anymore. This type of hyper-controlling parenting invariably results in rebellion from the children. And the degree of rebellion is proportionate to the level of unreasonableness from the parent.

When you and I were kids? We could ride our bikes for miles away from our parents' houses. We could go camping in the woods with our friends. We could walk to the nearest creek/river/lake and go fishing. Yes, the internet existed when I was a kid. Yes, I could play video games. But it's not the same, anymore. You can't do this shit.

Yes, many are. And there are support groups for people who escape their extremism. But many are quite kind, organized, and not controlling. And the children are free to go.

16 year olds don't need the internet

I most certainly needed the internet when I was 16 just for school, alone. But I also used it to learn about a ton of things. Some of which was mechanics/car repair, video game guides, politics, news, etc. The internet is not just for porn.

And the smart TVs....we didn't have those when I was a kid. Frustrating. But the good news is, many of those apps have parental controls already built in.

Anyway, I was freer as a kid than than many parents allow their kids to be. I wasn't radicalized by leftist groomers. I wasn't radicalized by incels and right-wing idiots. I turned out just fine. Not the case for other kids my age who got those same freedoms, though.
