Having grown up in Europe I can see their point. I can remember well the times I forget there was a waiter/waitress. Glasses were filled, plates disappeared and it was like a ghost was doing it. Here you start thinking they want to be your best friend and expect to be invited to your house(all the cloying friendliness is of course to guilt you into leaving more shekels for a tip).
