The users on Reddit are all mostly NPCs. The people who are really getting cheesed here and the people who actually have any power, which they are flexing, are the unpaid moderators.

Perhaps not all of you have been aware. But Reddit operates only because 99% of the moderators are "volunteers." For years Reddit has been an absolute shit show because corporate has basically given the mods complete impunity as long as they maintain order and tow the line on the big issues... COVID is still pretty fresh but there have been so many political issues before. Basically they claim to be neutral on politics and claim they want their subs to remain on topic and neutral but really they just promote a one sided echo chamber and with COVID you saw this a lot where a popular tech sub would have a thread about why antivaxers should be rounded up and shot, anyone who commented counter to the "popular" view point was instantly banned a d often the mods would send little "fuck you" messages to sweeten the boners that would give them.

On the other side being a moderator on Reddit in some cases has proven extremely profitable for some. The power trip and frequent abuse of power was enough for most but some make serious cash by manipulating "free speech" to steer customers to or away from certain brands.

Like with COVID, the leadership could have directed the mods to simply do a blackout on this API issue and like the thousands of previous political psyops and they would happily slurp up the directives except this time they're hurting the mods too... lol.

Take sides with the devil and eventually he will come for you too.
