The design is the least of the problems ruqqus has. The admins are vindictive.
I don't recommend making an account there. Avoid at all costs.
I said similar things coming to Poal from Ruqqus. I think it's a matter of getting used to the UI, but I agree that there is no easy way to join subs on Ruqqus.

There's nothing worthwhile on Ruqqus. It's an absolute festering gaping wound of a site comparable to a tranny.

Apparently the other two admins are not so malicious, but if you run up against the two I mentioned, you're finished. I'm banned - and I am hardly a poster that shakes the trees or makes outrageous posts or comments. I even posted animal stuff over there!

It's run by at least 2 jews. They were quick to start banning and shadowbanning subs once I got a good following going. I ran a sub called and it was gaining too much momentum. The reddifags were whining that "this place is turning into Voat, we have to stop it! REEEE" so the admins listened. Once I knew they were sympathetic to that sentiment, I knew they were frauds on the whole free speech platform they advertised the site on. did a great job exposing them during my 2nd ban.
They forced the "naughty" subs into the background by forcing them into categories, and the owners of the subs didn't get a choice on which category it was set to. (You had an option, but the admins would override it and pick one for you, force new users to opt in only, not out - so essentially you can't be seen).
Kikes are obvious kikes. They always start good, then start to fuck up everything.
Here's how kiked they really are. Their site was being deplatformed, . I also predicted their payment processor cutting them off 20 days before it happened. Take a look at their appreciation.
