I really don't understand how a funded site like that can have these types of problems. I have a little funding now and I'm planning on using it to upgrade our resources later today.

israeli funded site

Literally this. They are sponsored by an Israeli VPN

Still doesn't explain the downtime.

My guess would be a lack of attention and a lack of automation.

Last time, this was log files that had filled up the server. He could automatically clean those with a simple cron job. It might be that he's not done so because of the attacks and he wanted to read them? But, that'd just be speculation and I really don't have any more information than anyone else has.

Well who knows at the end of the day, its his site and he can do what he wants with it. I'll keep keeping on over here. I had a disk space issue once and I apologized for it.

He did say sorry last time. So, he has that going for him.

That was the root cause of the downtime that prompted you to make Poal.

Tons of people were running around certain that their wild speculations were factual. I 'member, 'cause I got to tell them that I told them so. Voat's symptoms then were clear enough that I was really confident that the most probable reason was a disk space error.

Also, he's on some Azure cloud hosting stuff. I've never used it - but I can almost guarantee that there's an automated function to expand the disk space available. They're not using physical hard drives - they're using virtualized disk space. I know this to be true without even looking. Even the shittiest VPS provider on the market is moving towards virtualized disk space, or already there. I know damned well Azure has to already be there - otherwise they'd be using dedicated servers.

At the same time, I can understand Putt's probable frustration. The Qtard infestation was terrible for the site and, as a free speech site, he can't just realistically kick them out. Since they arrived, along with the PG ilk, things have gone steadily downhill - both in quality of content and site performance.

For a short while, I almost tried to drive 'em to Poal but I decided I like you better than that.

You should be aware that they have a link in v/QRV that says something like "In case of emergency, break glass." It leads to a QRV sub here.

This was also the symptoms seen with the Great Voat Outage and the cause of that was that it had run out of disk space.
