Honest question. Does any one have a photo from the dawn of jets. The 1950s of a jet flying leaving a trail? Anyone?

Not many, but here are a few
Commonly observed in WWII films with piston bombers. Extremely common with early jets because they ran so rich, combustion was less efficient, and fuels were lower quality than today.
Don't have anything handy, but this was all fairly common in most any movies or pictures of the day.

Also worth pointing out, altitudes were assigned to prevent con trails. This means high altitudes. As aircraft became capable of flying higher, con trails became less common at cruise.
