How about the ice age? That was what they were fear mongering when I was a kid. We'd be frozen by 1990. And acid rain would make it impossible to go outside and would eat through our cars and kill the crops.
It was "Global Warming" when I was a kid, then all of a sudden it flipped to "Climate Change" and "The UK will be frozen by 2020" or some shit.
Acid rain is a funny one, tho. I lived near a large power plant that was supposedly one of the worst acid rain causes in the country. And yeah, cars would get damage to their paint, but that all went away when scrubbers were mandated. It was an expensive, but effective solution for a problem. No one wants to mention that, however, that would indicate we can solve problems with some engineering and some cash.
That's different from now because "solutions" require your obedience and ALL your cash, and they won't do anything.
Yeah, pollution is bad! I can agree completely with poisoning us being horrible. I think the ozone hole was "fixed" as well just by banning some chemicals and it "healed" itself pretty quickly. Unless it's one of those that doesn't make them any money, so it's still around and just not spoken of.
