There are still two in the Greater Cleveland area. Used to be 24 hours, but now they close at 9. :(

Shame, was a great late night spot and the cleanest 24 hour restaurant I ever saw.

*They put the Big Boy statue on the roof so no one could steal it. lmao...

You can still buy the sauces in stores. Best wing sauce on the planet, short of hand made

Wing sauce made out of hands sounds gross AF.

😁

Gosh, I can’t remember the last time I ate at one

I was still a Jehovah Witness the last time I did

We never had Bob's in my area when I was growing up but I do remember The Red Barn. Their big sandwich was The Big Barnie and it was very good.

For me, Fuddrucker's is currently the best but they too are few and far between.

I thought all Fuddruckers went out of business. The only one near me went out years ago. Shame because their buffalo burgers were fantastic.

There's two just off I-85 in SC. One in/near Gaffney and one near Anderson.

I remember seeing this one in American movies when I was a kid. I don't know much about it other than it's for a restaurant, but I fully see it as a symbol of American culture.

Some accounts claim they were the first double patty burger. No idea if this is true or not. It's a family diner type resturant. Typically VERY clean, and the food is always on point. The salad dressings in particular are so good that they're jarred and sold separately in American grocery stores

So it's kind of like a complete opposite of Waffle House?

[–] 1 pt

Can't speak of that because it's a different era and I never went to waffle house in the 80s and 90s. But yeah, pretty much. We'd go there after knocking on doors all afternoon specifically because it was clean. Granted, JW has a lot of niggers in their ranks, but THOSE niggers at least tend to stay on their leash and not fuck shit up.

Meanwhile outside of Wapiti Wyoming...

I worked there in the mid to late 80's. I held two titled positions, lead server and certified trainer (of which, there was only one per store). Because of that, I made an obscene wage as far as restaurants go, over minimum wage, plus my tips. Probably the best job I had career-wise, well, at least until Marriott sold them to Elias Brothers.

They made a lot of bad decisions. Biting off more than they could chew buying Shoney's, was one. I remember they even called Louis Elias out of retirement to help save them.

I left them and went to Perkin's. It was a mom & pop with the franchise name. The owners were wonderful and it was probably my most fun job. Stayed for seven years until they closed. :(

Food quality is usually a good indicator of employee happiness. And that place was ALWAYS on point

The food was excellent and good quality. They had their own commissary where they made the products and shipped them to the stores. 'Slop', it was not! 😋

Now I want Big Boy burger! :(
