I knew within the first 30 seconds when it showed Moiraine wearing pants it was going to be as bad as I heard. I didn't make more than halfway through the first episode. A shame too. If they would have stuck closer to the source this could have been an amazing series. They fumbled this big time, just like "Rings of Power".

Were those books worth a read?

The author can be a bit long winded. It doesn't bother me much since I listen to the audio books. I find them to be well produced. I don't know that I'd sit down to read them, but they are worth a listen for sure if you like that type of media. The audio books can be long, 30 to 40 hours. I cut it close finishing them on my library's app (Libby) within the two week borrow time.

Myself and others discussed the series more this thread.

yes.

For a person of words such as yourself. If you like fantasy, you will enjoy them.

Curious as to what your other favorite reads are

I've read most of the stuff branded with "Dungeons and Dragons". Salvatore, and Hickman / Weiss do a decent job there.

Sanderson's work is good, he was an excellent choice to finish the WoT series, based on writing style. Brooks or Weeks are also pretty good.

For something that was free when I read it - Look up Jeff Inlo The Delver series - Its good in that you get to see the writer develop, book one was a struggle, by three he has a rhythm and is doing well, by 6 he is becoming a decent writer. But the story has lost the plot by 6. I like it because I got to see the writer grow. For a word person. That may be enough.

Other topics

  • Sci-Fi Rudy Ruckers the Ware tetrology was fun. Herbert - Dune - great series. Adams - Those books were great Card - The ender series was a staple as a kid. Ring world and discworld were good stuff too.

  • Real life topics Where wizards stay up late - The origins of the internet Homicide: A year on the killing Streets The Catherdral and The Bazaar: Musings on linux and Open Source Hackers: Heroes of the Computer revolution.

Many more that i cant think of right this second.

I wouldn't really say I have favorite books, or authors. I just like books.

They are a slog at times due to the level of detail, but the books are definitely worth it.

Worth it to 'read' read them, or worth it to listen to as an audiobook in the background while I avoid getting stabbed by Niggers on the subway?

I've never actually listened to an audio book in my life, although I've been meaning to. To me they're worth reading.

> Were those books worth a read?

It's one of my all time favorite series. I've read them and listened to them on audible multiple times. If you love fantasy they are a must. There are parts that are excruciatingly boring. Just pass over those chapters. The story in and of itself is amazing.

>An Ending: The Wheel of Time books effectively run forever, so it was unclear when a stop point might be. Allegedly the third season was supposed to be designed as a sort of ending if this did happen, but having watched the final, I don’t get that impression at all.

The writer has no reference for the book series and could have done one minute of research to see that books end at book 13. With a final ending. Yes more material could be extrapolated as a follow on series, but there is a definite ending in the book series.

If they can't get that part of the homework done, nothing else they do will have effort.

I have not seen one second of the TV show, but I enjoyed these books many years ago.

I assume they turned all main characters into niggies, fags or white women who who love niggies. Fuck 'em.

Yes, mixed races in the two rivers which makes no sense. Fuck this faggotry.

At least we still have fat black dwarves in Rangs of Powah.

Another major disappointment. I did force my way though the first season of it, but didn't bother with the second when I heard it was just as bad.
