Yes. I default to 'money = power', thinking to a fault. Someone, i think on voat, pointed out that Joker has plenty 'narrative' built in as well, same message just with a different approach.
'Money = Power' is very real... have no doubt. The confusion is that this is not about them trying to gain money and power... Hollywood is about SPENDING money and EXERCISING power. If Money = Power, then it follows that money must be spent to use the power that you gain from the money. If you want to actually use your power you must be willing to waste money and to spend frivolously.
I guess sometimes they make money and gain power as a double wammy too. We would like to see them lose fortunes and do themselves damage at the same time. Going to watch Ford vs Ferrari through that lens.
