Maybe you know more than I do, but why would anyone need to be on the train?
It's a train that has supposedly unlimited power, yet they choose to live in a thin skinned heat trap that a) constantly needs power to run, and b) constantly needs power for heat ( more heat when running due to the added heat loss)
Why not just plop down down somewhere, create a better insulated system, and use the energy to create usable land?
Don’t overthink it. The story isn’t about an ice age, it is about the events taking place on the train.
Unfortunately, I am cursed with a curiosity beyond suspension of disbelief.
If the train was on limited fuel and needed to get to a certain place, that would have made for a much better story for me. Much more believable and even add to the intensity of the story.
To just spout "infinite power" and then - for no imaginable reason - have to go through all the shit they do, immediately drops me out of the movie.
If an infinite power pod is ever developed, I am going to bug out to northern Canada or Alaska and make a very cozy little igloo to spend the rest of my days. As it is now, I am way too uncomfortable in the two cold months of winter, and way too uncomfortable in the heat of the rest of the year, and despise "burning money" to control my environment.
