Rehashing proven stories that you already own the IP for means that you spend less money on creative development, while having a pretty safe hedge in the fact that a nostalgic audience will probably be willing to pay for it.

Hollywood is controlled by Satan. Yes, literally, it is Satanic. Now, those of you who understand the nature of the Devil and all his works, riddle me this ... what is the one quality which the Devil lacks? The answer is creativity. The Devil can simulate innovation and creativity. He can produce intricate dances and complex music. He can refine paintings and regularize proportions in buildings. His craftwork is above criticism. But he lacks the spark of the Divine Spirit that would allow him to create something genuinely new. All his creatures also lack this divine creative spark. And this, my buddies in the aethyr, is why Hollywood makes so many remakes.
