Christopher Isherwood's short stories about Sally Bowles, on which the musical Caberet was based, were written by a pervert and a degenerate. Isherwood himself was part of the problem that the Nazis were fighting against. It's not surprising that he presented the perversion rampant in pre-war Berlin as romantic and exciting. The reality is that uncheked sexual perversion is corrosive and destructive to a healthy society -- as we are seeing today in our times.
