A recent indie film called Lotawana is a subtle but unflinching exploration of the "strong independent man against female influences" discussion. It completely flew under all the liberal radar but if you watch it with a eye that isn't tainted by feminism you can't help but pick up on the message of how destructive female influence can be if not properly checked.
It's beautifully shot, well written, and surprisingly well acted, so it's worth seeing even if you just want to watch a movie.
