Another classic 1980's Michael J. Fox movie was "Teen Wolf." I remember watching a review of the movie and the reviewer asks the audience what the movie was about. Of course, on the surface, you're like: "Lycnathropy, DUH!", but really, when you succinctly get down to the heart of it, it is about the love a father has for his son. That's deep.
Michael J. Fox also had a great role in Bright Lights, Big City which was a much, much darker film (in both content and cinematography) about coming of age late in your 20's, battling personal demons and the excesses of 1980's Manhattan yuppies. Good supporting roles from Swoosie Kurtz and a young Keifer Sutherland.
