That was all they had left. The first movie set the trilogy up for greatness, and then the next two completely shit on it. You can't come back from a pile of shit. You can only make the pile bigger.

The gay bum village isn't even real. They're still in the matrix.

I don't know how people can't understand that. It was explained in the first movie that the matrix exists so that the people in the pods feel like they're living a normal life and have to struggle. Otherwise they die like the mice in the mouse utopia experiment.

It was also explained in one of the moves (third I think?) That there have been multiple "ones" and that Zion has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times.

So what do you do to keep the human batteries from realizing they're in a simulation and dying? You let them escape.

This is one of the theories.

That right after Neo visited the Architect, the Architect really did destroy the 6th City of Zion in the real world when Neo chose the other door to save Trinity instead of Zion.

And while they were chatting, the Architect created a replica of the real world. Hence why Neo could not control the "bots" when he was in the "Real World" when he exited The Source room.

But that's one of the theories. The other theory, which is likely since the 4th movie came out, is that Neo was wireless connected to the matrix through the various devices in his body and he was not "authorized" to connect to the Matrix of Machines until after his visit to The Source. It's part of the "The One" program and a way that Zion is supposed to be saved/destroyed in the cycle the Oracle and the Architect setup.

We know this is true form the 4th movie because we find out that Neo and Trinity are essential to keep the machines running and highly functional. Also, the machines start to form friendships with Zionists and having fun "in the real world." They are also experimenting and creating flora to restore earth - information that the Machines wouldn't have. It's new science. New tech.

The writers are not that smart.

He can have voodoo powers against the machines if he felt like it, as long as the script makes sense.

For example, why would the machines give a shit about the red pill, if in the 4th film they just flat out said a scared battery farm of people generate more electricity.

Or if you think about it, if agent smith can just take over whoever the hell he wants, what's the point in even having bodies with their own thoughts. Why not just have agent smiths 100% of the time and breed new people.

How would you even mate two people on two different pods?

For the same reason they let the people "escape" from the first layer.

So that they struggle in the second one and provide energy for the machines.

It doesn't cost the machines any extra energy. It's all just one big simulation with multiple layers.

Noticed that as well but you had to watch until the very very end to see that Neo and Trinity were 100% powered up at the end.

Also, don't forget that this type of plot was very much foreseeable because the Architect told Neo that he was different from the other "The Ones" because his strong connection to humanity was just one person, Trinity.

They are a duo. A unit.

If anything, the Wachowskis were preaching a message of marriage and how neither a man nor a woman are whole without the other. This was a good Christian movie (lmaoooooooooooooo!) teaching people about the importance of marriage and being there for your spouse.

Also, the new "Smith" is not even remotely close to Hugo Weaving's depiction. It's not nearly as good. Not even close.

The movie actually made fun of Warner Brothers, directly in the movie, as part of the dialogue. I was floored that WB execs let them put that in the movie. They directly stated that they were forced to make a 4th movie because copyrights were running out and WB didn't want to lose the rights.

All in all, this movie was far more enjoyable than I thought it would be. It's not even remotely as good as the first 3, of course. But it was still quite enjoyable.

I am glad I took the time to see it. It did a good job of getting in your head and making you second guess yourself like the first one. Didn't think it was possible since the story was already told.

What I don't understand is why the Male-Female couple, being the central point of the film, was pushed so hard by the Wachowskis considering the huge LGBTQ:LDKFJ:LDJF+ push and advocacy. Pushing traditional relationships so hard like that? Unsure what's up.
