The book was 900 pages So even a 2 and half hour movie was going to have to remove huge chunks either way.

However not a single thing landed on it's final sentiment whether it be every single character's, the main plot or any of the subplots.

At the end of the book it bone chillingly is clear that "evil" has fully regained and the extent of it's reach and what it plans to do is clear. At the end of the movie it's "oh ya this voldemort guy returned, here's another hermione scene saying and doing some stuff not only not said in the book, but completely out of character and never would be said in the book".

Hermione in the movie CLEARLY could not act out her "love" scenes. So they just didn't even have them. In the book she get's asked out Viktor Krum, basically the closest equivalent to a 18 year backstreet boy or movie star for girls. She was completely blushed but immediately finds out Ron wanted to ask her out. They fight and bicker like a 4 year old already relationship then become extremely jealous (and protective) of each shutting everyone (other potential) out.

In the movie they make Viktor Krum look out to be a moron butt headed idiot. He WAS NOT in the book. In the movie they film the Twilight actor for Cedric. Try to film him as a 'peak heart throb'. Cedric was 'handsome' but he wasn't "anything special". Cho was supposed to be a beautiful attractive girl Harry was wanting. They made her almost ugly.

In the book there were the 'Veela's'. Basically a kind of Siren who had ultra attraction powers and ability to transmutate into a vicious thing. They played a large / huge role and were even a main character (half veela). Never even mentioned in the movie.

Hagrid and another school's head mistress had a love affair. But she wouldn't admit she was half giant (which was a huge scandal to admit if public) and soured the whole relationship. In the movie half giants or even giants aren't even mentioned, and the head mistress and Hagrid are just fine in their love affair.

Many things are out of order in the movie. Unnecessarily.

Dobby isn't brought up in the movie at all even though playing an important part in the book. Ludo Bagman is almost non existent in the movie although playing a rather large role in the book. Crouch isn't even begun to be portrayed as the key role in both sides. Cornelius Fudge (head of ministry of magic) makes it perfectly clear he's compromised in the book. Barely even a presence in the movie let alone that he's compromised.

Albus Dumbledore is out of character in the movie. Accusing Harry of stuff in the movie while being on his side the whole time in the book.

The world cup, what happened after, the dursleys, hogsmeade, Sirius (mostly), blasted ended skrewts, were completely left out. Third task had no monsters in them let alone they were the main thing in them in the book. In the book Victor never met with Harry and passed him up in the 3rd task. He never saw Fluer (the half veela) there. They never broke Harry's legs at the end of task 3 yet still had him share the victory anyways (for no reason now). They also screwed with task 2 messing up what Harry actually did.

Overall the book and movie are now associated at best. The final sentiment on almost every level and character is not as it is in the book.

From the 4th book on, a mini series would have been a better format, but then it would still get just as fucked up as the movies did by execs and writers, just in a different way. I understand the argument that sacrifices are made for runtimes but so much of the little details you mentioned are the only reason the books were enjoyable.

They also cut Peeves completely from the entire series.

Just wait until you get to book 5. That had some of the most hilarious scenes ever committed to paper, and almost all of them got cut.

I stopped reading about halfway through the 4th book. It just couldn't hold my interest any more. Not sure why, it was a decent enough story.
