Or, having read the books will I just be sorely disappointed?

I didn't read the books, so I can't tell about the storytelling. But it's action packed and full of CGI like many recent movies.

I just hope they left "tooterfish sandwiches" in. (mild book spoiler)

I don't remember, it's been a while.

I heard it was pozzed so I didn't watch it.

I never pictured Roland as black, but I can look past that if the movie is well made.

I'll never look past roland being black. I love the books, but I'll never watch the movie.

Just finished watching, was ok but no "tooterfish" to be found. And Roland is meant to be white.

I read a few of the books before I lost interest.

Its been awhile since i watched the movie, but Id say it was mostly based on the first book...and probably bits and pieces of the other books. There was no crazy train or killer forest robots, but it probably gave more storyline to who the gunslinger was chasing than the first couple books did.

If you were able to slug through that whole series and now want to watch as close an adaption as possible, then don't bother because they had to condense and cut a bunch of stuff.

It was ok, I've seen worse book adaptations.

I read the books and I rage quit the movie. I just walked out about half way through. Fuck that movie

I enjoyed it but full disclosure I didn't read the books

I'll give it a go then. You should try the books, some of Kings best work besides "The Stand".

Its on my list of audio books to consume but I don't get much time to listen too them lately.
