What is this director's deal - does he like BWAAAA drowning out whispered dialogue in all of his movies, or does he have so much low frequency hearing loss that his awful audio mixing sounds fine to him?

Even with 9.1 channels and the center channel specifically boosted, his movies have consistently atrocious sound mixing that drowns out the dialogue.

My wife and I have watched a lot of movies lately and it is Most of not all that Kill the dialogue with 'Music' and low/soft voices.

It's striking how different it is for movies made recently vs 20-30 years ago. The older movies have crystal dialogue instead of whispering drowned out by BWAAAAA

lol I haven't encountered this but I instantly knew the Nolan BWAAAAAAA

Tenet's probably his most egregious example of horrible audio mixing. Even with a great home theater system it's unwatchable because either he's going deaf or just drowns out dialogue to be artsy.

Interstellar is a complete mess regarding the audio mixing.
