They're not "worthless", at least not to the people who were behind them, they have been designed very specifically to destroy contemporary White stories, to desecrate them and render them abominations. Disney did not try to make a good movie and fail, they deliberately set out to destroy a previously beloved story. Put a chick in it and make it gay has been their go to plan for this, and for the most part it works at destroying a good story.
