Oh and I love Texas, but it is not made for retired people (I'm young & not really retired). Property tax on 3 different places went up 162% total in 1 year so that has me worried that retirement will be tough here. We don't have state tax, but we have property tax here.
Yes. I've noticed property taxes are high in Texas. I've also looked at places like Kansas, Missouri and even Arkansas because the property taxes are much lower. Good friends from Vegas just bought a gorgeous home on two acres in Arkansas near Texas. I just need to travel to see the areas.
I almost bought a cheap lake house in Texas. But, it was too rural and the area was too dry, so I canceled.Plus. I need to be somewhere I can work. I haven't worked in years because I've been a stay at home mom. Thinking real-estate. It's fun looking at homes.
Wherever I go, I want rain. I like trees too.. So, Ive been considering places near the Louisiana border or further north near Arkansas. However, I don't like the increase in property taxes.
