I wonder if this has anything to do with vaccine mandates. Just kidding, no need to wonder.

All kinds of stuff screwed up in CA. Regulations for trucks is so strict that many are now off the road. China owns much of the shipping firms in LA and they won't pay workers the going rate (likely on purpose), which has slowed things almost to a halt.

It's almost like we're in the middle of a world economic war and the vast majority is stupid enough to believe it's something else.

What is unclear yet is whether shipments from China will be willing to re-route to FL. If their real objective is to screw the US economy, they may not.

Why would China fuck over Chinese imports? More like something else is blaming China. Gee I wonder who.

It has to do with China owning port operations in Long Beach CA and Port Elizabeth NJ

I thought Trump made them sell it.

The cargo ships probably can't afford what it costs to cross the Panama Canal. The Chinese own that, too.

If true you have to admire the strategy. China has essentially set up an embargo around the USA.

Good to see FL making CA look like a bunch of retards

All Florida men report to the Interstate borders at I-95, I-75 and I-10. Men along the coast report to Ponce Inlet, Port Canaveral, Fort Laurderdale, Tampa, Port St Lucie, Homestead and Key West.

This is war.

7 days my ass, it takes weeks to get passage through the Panama canal approved. Not to mention the increased fuel cost...

I looked this up last night out of curiosity. For a ship traveling 10 knots it takes 17 days. If the ship has to go around Cape Horn it is 52 days. I'm sure a decent amount of those ships are pan-max and would require the horn passage.

I'm not sure how they calculate the canal passage, but multiple websites claim it only takes 8 to 10 hours to travel the 50 miles.

My guess was it would take awhile as well.

In b4 the Panama canal is blocked by a large object..

Make sure the useless resident of the White House doesn't take credit for any improvement given by Florida

[–] 1 pt

Who's paying the tolls for the canal?

what's the cost of a 5 week delay sitting outside the port?

[–] 0 pt

Those ships are being paid to deliver those containers to Port of LA or Long Beach. They won't go anyplace else purely to get offloaded. If the ship goes to another port, all those containers have to get rerouted and everything else. Those ships will sit there until they sink.

Depends on if someone takes the initiative to get the ground transportation setup for FL. I agree it's not as easy as we would like, but 5 weeks seems far too long to just sit there and wait

one part of the article seems to say that "declaring a state of emergency could help" but then of course doesn't say how that would help at all.

Declaring something doesn't move anything anywhere, unless of course the cause of the problem was some kind of regulation that can now be ignored, which would then mean that the entire problem wasn't a labor shortage or any kind of physical issue to begin with but a legislative BS one.
