Even with the most detailed scan of the brain, you still have the problem of translating the physical structure into a behavioral model (one that maps inputs to outputs). The brain consists of trillions of cells and each of those cells is a complex machine with logic and memory. How do you get at that logic and memory that resides inside the cells through a brain scan? I'm skeptical that this approach will ever be viable.

They can form a blurry image that is similar to what a person is looking at or thinking about based on a scan. They know more than just the general what goes on in each part of the brain. Each part is a little different for different people. Over the years it will get better. But we are still looking at 20 years or more to get a rough copy. 100 years maybe for a reasonable copy. Government seems to have near 20 years of secret tech. Maybe fifty years to go from gov project to big business, and a few more for public.. Moon in 1969. Big business orbit just last year
