I've had the most luck convincing people of the importance of the JQ on the premise that they are projecting their crimes onto the innocent. I'm not saying it will work the first time you mention it, but if you consistently point out the hypocrisy some will come around. Once you get them warmed up some will even realize that the real Holocaust happened in Dresden...
